Meet the Artist: Amy Bridges
Amy Bridges is an artist and surface designer creating original artwork, painted glassware, and hand-painted silk pieces from her studio in Deep East Texas.
Originally from Columbia, Louisiana, Amy earned her degree in Fine and Graphic Arts from Northwestern State University, graduating with honors. Her creative journey has taken her through many mediums, from acrylic and watercolor painting to glass artistry, textile design, and original silk paintings.
After spending time in Florida while her husband served in the Navy, Amy eventually made her home in Texas, where she continues to follow inspiration wherever it leads. Her work is driven by curiosity, experimentation, and the belief that every idea deserves the medium that brings it to life.
Living with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome after a childhood injury has changed the way Amy creates, but it has never stopped her from pursuing art. Instead, it has shaped her perspective and strengthened her connection to the creative process. Through every challenge, Amy continues to explore the world around her and transform those experiences into artwork.

About the Art
Amy works across a variety of mediums because every vision has its own language. Acrylics, watercolor, glass, textiles, and silk each offer different ways to bring an idea into the world.
While Amy enjoys every medium she works with, her greatest passion is painting silk.
Silk is not simply a surface to paint on. The individual fibers move and interact with the dyes, creating a living process where the material itself becomes part of the artwork. Rather than forcing an image onto the fabric, Amy works with the silk to discover the movement, colors, and forms that emerge.
Many silk paintings begin without a completely defined outcome. The dyes flow, blend, and transform, creating a collaboration between artist and material. Each piece becomes a one-of-a-kind exploration of color, texture, and imagination.
For Amy, creating art is not just about making an object. It is about discovering the story hidden inside the materials and bringing that story forward for others to experience.
