Meet the Artist

Amy is an artist in Huntington, Texas
Amy grew up in Columbia, Louisiana, and then graduated with honors from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches with a degree in Fine and Graphic Arts. Amy had an injury as a child that resulted in a condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. This condition means she is frequently not even able to walk. While everyone told her she couldn't and wouldn't be able to, Amy continued chasing inspiration through the world. After spending a few years in Florida while her husband was in the Navy, Amy eventually landed in Texas, where she creates whatever she dreams.

Meet the Art
I work with a variety of media. I paint with acrylics, and I simply love watercolors. I also build lamps and paint glassware. I love to create, and every vision needs its very own approach. However, my heart is in painting silk. The way the individual fibers move the dyes around is as if the fabric is alive and working with me. Painting silk isn't about simply creating an image on the surface. It's about working with the silk itself to bring out the image that lives inside it. I don't always have a plan when I start a silk painting. It is often a very fun surprise to see what the painting grows up to be.
