Clouded Leopard | Original Framed Acrylic Painting
An original acrylic painting of a clouded leopard, capturing the quiet intensity and beauty of one of nature’s most elusive big cats.
This piece was inspired by a clouded leopard living at the Lufkin, Texas zoo, which I visit regularly with my family. Watching this animal over time revealed subtle movements, expressions, and moments of stillness that photographs alone couldn’t fully capture. I took hundreds of reference images before building a final composition that reflected not just its appearance, but its presence.
To bring the texture of the leopard’s coat to life, I used layered acrylic mediums and custom texture mixtures to build dimensional fur directly onto the surface of the painting. This creates a tactile, lifelike quality that shifts with light and viewing angle, adding depth beyond the painted surface.
The painting is finished in a handmade floater frame, wired on the back, and ready to hang.

About the Work
Clouded Leopard focuses on presence and detail—the quiet power of an animal that is both visible and hidden in equal measure. Through layered texture and careful observation, the painting aims to capture not just what the leopard looks like, but how it feels to stand in front of it.
