The Ghost Who Had a Cat | Original Painting (Chester & Boo)
A quiet, whimsical haunting unfolds in this original acrylic painting.
The Ghost Who Had a Cat tells the story of Chester, a gentle sheet-draped ghost who moves through a darkened space carrying a candle resting in an old-fashioned plate-style holder. Around him, floating candles create a soft, warm glow that breaks through the surrounding darkness.
Trailing along with him is Boo, a mischievous orange cat who has made himself entirely at home—loafing comfortably as if he belongs to the journey rather than simply observing it. The contrast between Chester’s quiet, careful presence and Boo’s relaxed chaos gives the piece its narrative charm.
The scene is inspired by early days with a newly adopted black and white kitten in the home—moments where objects would mysteriously move, sounds would appear, and yet no culprit could ever be found except a very small, very silent cat.
This painting captures that feeling of domestic mystery, where everyday life begins to feel just slightly enchanted.

About the Work
This piece is part of my narrative-driven painting work, where characters and emotional atmosphere guide the composition as much as subject matter.
Each painting is an exploration of storytelling through color, light, and symbolic form—blending everyday life with quiet surrealism.
The work is created entirely in acrylic and built through layered lighting to emphasize glow, shadow, and presence within a limited space.
