Wheel in the Sky | Original Abstract Acrylic Painting (10x20)
Completed Original • Ready to Hang
Wheel in the Sky is an original abstract acrylic painting created during a period of profound personal upheaval, where themes of motion, continuity, and survival became central to the artist’s work.
This piece is part of a series exploring the idea that life continues to move forward—regardless of fracture, uncertainty, or disruption.
The composition is built around a large, geometric wheel-like structure inspired by mechanical tire hub forms. Concentric circular elements expand outward from the center, constructed from repeated metallic ring shapes with triangular cutouts throughout the structure.
These interruptions within the geometry function as visual metaphors for fracture and loss, while the overall circular form continues its motion uninterrupted. The result is a tension between breakdown and persistence, stillness and rotation.
Smaller wheel forms appear partially obscured within the composition, reinforcing the sense of layered motion and repetition. The overlapping placement of these forms creates depth and suggests continuous movement beyond the edges of the canvas.
The surrounding space is filled with alternating geometric fields of blue and white, with gradients of gray used to suggest metallic surfaces and structural weight. Small gold accents punctuate the composition, creating visual points of contrast within the rhythm of the painting.
Rather than depicting literal machinery, the work uses industrial geometry as a symbolic language for cycles, momentum, and the persistence of motion through disruption.

About This Work
Wheel in the Sky is part of a series of abstract works exploring motion, structure, and cyclical systems. The painting reflects on the persistence of movement and the ways in which life continues forward, even through moments of fracture and change.
